For those of us old enough to remember, in the early 1970s, the first Japanese cars hit the market to the amusement of many. "Rice burners" and "motorized wheelbarrows" were two of the nicer expressions thrown around. Everyone except the actual owners laughed at the idea that they could compete with the "better" cars. The first few owners weren't laughing. The cars were high quality, mechanically superb and the value for money was exceptional. Honda and Toyota ignored the sneers and are now bywords for excellence (not so cheap anymore though).I'm beginning to feel that way about Neewer.I initially bought some Neewer flash units for my DSLR at the recommendation of a professional photographer who'd bought some on a whim and had been very impressed. I did the same (at 1/5th the cost of the name brands) and was equally impressed. I figured if they lasted half as long as the more pricey gear, they were still a bargain. Well, it's two years later and they are still going strong.Based on that, I bought this field monitor at, again, a fraction of the cost of higher end units, and Neewer didn't disappoint. The monitor and all of the provided accessories are of excellent fit and finish for the price charged. Oh sure, there are some quirks -- one side of the box the monitor comes in states that it is a "7" 4K HDMI Field Monito" and the instructions are the usual inscrutable and unreadable English. But other than those quibbles, the actual product works very well."Buy cheap, buy twice" was one of my Mom's favorite sayings and in general, I like to buy good quality products. I'm usually willing to pay some premium for it. But when you can get 90% of the product at 20% of the cost, it's a no brainer. Hond...oops...Toyot...I mean...Neewer has impressed me again and, value for money, can't be beaten. Maybe they'll even get a decent translator at some point. But I'm taking them seriously now.
