The Aputure Pro-Grade Off-Camera Hot-Shoe Flash Cable is an extremely useful accessory for Canon EOS series digital & 35mm film SLR cameras, allowing an external flash to be used away from the camera. The flash can be located as far as 4 feet away from the camera and still perform all the automatic functions possible with flash photography. The Aputure TTL Cable allows for full dedication between the camera and flash. It also permits easy use of the flash when the camera is mounted upon a bracket.Compatible Cameras (including but not limited to): Canon EOS 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 7D, 5D, 5D Mark II, 1D, 1Ds, Mark II, III, IV EOS Digital Rebel t1i, t2i, xt, xti, xs, xsi 300d, 350d, 400d, 450d, 500d, 550d, 1000d, 60DCompatible Flashes (including but not limited to): Canon Flashes 220EX, 300EZ, 380EX, 420EZ, 420EX, 430EZ, 430EX, 430EX II, 480EG, 540EZ, 550EX, 580EX, 580EX2

Just got this cable yesterday and have a very favorable opinion about its build quality. As noted in the photographs the hot shoe connections are metal and seem well constructed. The plastic housings similarly seem substantial, and the cord is securely fastened with small strain relief collars where they enter the housings. Unstretched it is 23 inches long, and it can rather easily stretch 5 feet without straining the cord. It worked perfectly when attached to the camera and flash. I tried it on two cameras, a Canon PowerShot G9 and a Canon EOS Rebel T1i. The adapter seats securely on the camera and there is a locking mechanism that works well. The small locking lever feels substantial and itself locks in place when moved to the position that locks the adapter on the camera. So far this cable seems the equal of the Canon brand one.
