September 10th 2021-I am very happy to update my recent reviews of this ANRAN product. After reaching out to ANRAN for support for a defective camera (under warranty) a great person by the name of Alisa reached out to me.Alisa heard my cries for someone to help me to resolve the problem I was having getting assistance for my surveillance system. Alisa was able to step in on my behalf. She processed through, an order for a new camera.I do not know where the replacement process broke down, but after a brief period of frustration, I was able to successfully have the camera replaced and as of today, I am back in business!As for the system itself, for me, it is just what I need. I am able to monitor activity on my smart phone, and my sister, who also lives here, is also able to view/review and capture activity.I have updated my previous review accordingly.MikeSeptember 10th 2021I am VERY unhappy with ANRAN!This past Monday (8/30/21) I reached out to ANRAN because one of my new cameras went bad. It could not be fixed by any method their customer service offered.I was told that tech support would get in touch with me within 48 hours. As of today (9/2/21) NO ONE has responded to me. No call, no email, no NOTHING!I tried calling their toll free number but their system kept simply hanging up on me.I have no choice but to write this review, as I cannot certify by any means that ANRAN stands behind their product(s) with any service to the purchaser.It's unacceptable that when calling a business, the system just hangs up on you. And since this is a "SECURITY SYSTEM", it does me no good if the system is not SECURE!Therefore, I cannot recommend this product or company to anyone looking to purchase a system.MikeSeptember 2nd 2021-----------------------------------Let me say beforehand that I have been very satisfied with the unit thus far and also the phone app that allows me to view the cameras remotely as well as review recordings. I have needed to reach customer service twice before the following issue, and both times the responses were helpful and knowledgeable. I do not look at the following issue as any indication that the product may be flawed.That said.....I purchased this outdoor set on June 24th 2021. This past weekend (August 28th 2021) one of the four cameras failed. I tried the usual user repair methods but the camera still would not work.On Sunday the 29th I tried customer service. The phone simply clicked back onto a dial tone (I guess they are not open on Sundays).Today, Monday the 30th, I was able to reach customer support right away. The woman I spoke with had me attempt the same things I did on my own. No luck; the camera still failed.After obtaining my order info she advised that an email would be forthcoming that would assist me in getting a replacement camera, as there was no further troubleshooting that she could do.I will see how the replacement process proceeds.it should have a higher fps (frames per second). Minimum of 30fps would make it a five star. It still is very decent but at 15 fps you will have a slight jerkiness, in both real time and especially to recorded stuff. It won't do for any forensic "license plate" stuff, but at this price point it's really pretty good. Attach a good resolution monitor and for general observation it's great. People who sell these systems should be a bit more precise in the use of the word "wireless." The CCTV signal is wireless, but you still need to run a power line (120volt) out to the camera. I'm guessing most people string a bunch of extension cords out to the cameras. However, if properly done, and you're running a power line out to the camera, there would be very little effort needed to string a coaxial line(CCTV) with the power line. Just food for thought. If you're the extension cord type, the wireless can be convenient. Their range is pretty good. I'm running one camera through exterior concrete walls, interior plaster walls, and over a 50 foot distance and it works very good. If I put a system in at my primary residence, I'll go with a higher fps rate. The good news is there I've had sensor lights (11) in place(s) for years, so the power is already there. And I've come across cover plates which have four threaded holes in them. That means I can keep the sensors active AND add the cameras . . . I think. Geez . . . there's no end to this stuff.Update: Two of the four cameras quit working after 1+ years. ANRAN support types kept sending me discount codes so I could buy half-priced replacements . . . but none of the codes worked at checkout. Gave up after awhile. Too bad. I was considering expanding/updating. Not now.I needed a no internet, stand-alone surveillance monitor/recorder.After some wrangling, got it working to detect motion, and works well with good picture.Great price!Update: Sept 15 2020 - System still works very well, and the support by email from China is remarkably good. (1 day turn around typically) I've added two more cameras and am looking to get another two for a full 8 pack.So far this system is what I was looking for. We want to watch our home and also keep track of wildlife that wander around the neighborhood at night. This system does continuous recording. The cameras all worked, and connected immediately to the central station when powered up. My model comes with four cameras and I already want to add two more!Resolution is very good, vibrant in daylight and IR black & white at night. (We watched a raccoon in the neighbor's tree-house at night)The central station control software is somewhat difficult to use and I am still earning how to motion trigger the cameras.Playback of the continuous recorded records is limited to 1x-8x speed, and you cannot fast forward. It is very much like having an older slow computer. This is what I expected as the central station, wireless cameras, and power supplies come at a very affordable price.The control software would let you use pan, zoom, and audio - but I think those features are not on my low price system. You can select features in the software and nothing happens so it is hard to tell if you did it wrong, or picked a feature that was not part of your unit.I have not contacted the support line yet but will to ask for an operating manual. The system comes with a setup / install and troubleshooting guide. This model had better customer reviews than most at this price point, but since some reviewers complained of early failure I did purchase the Amazon extended warranty. That is something I rarely ever buy.So far it has been fun to play with. I will be looking for an outdoor multi-tap 12 volt power supply to run all the cameras. Open to any recommendations from Anran or users ...
